Then Aaron hit me up and the rest is history. I have had the pleasure of knowing, this talented young man, for about three years now. BoardRoom.

Bad Boy Bi*ch. Diddy and his label have snagged the cover of Vibe's Juice Issue August/ September, hitting stores August 16th. Gracing the cover is Diddy, Rich Ross, Janelle Monae, Cassie, Dirty Money's Dawn and Karlenna, and Red Cafe. Since Bad Boy left Atlantic and went to Interscope, they have been doing well. I hope the move helped everyone out.

I look forward to greater things from them. Dirty Money's Last Train to Paris coming this fall. Janelle Monae's The Archandroid is doing great on the charts.  I hope Cassie will be releasing her album soon. And Red Cafe? Pointless

Brandable.

Kardashian Clan made their way on the blue carpet at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, looking fashionable and displaying why we love them so much. Of course each one of them looked amazing. Kim wore all black embellished shoulder, Kourtney wore light color peach mini dress, Khloe wore deep v-neck shirt and banded skirt, Kendell wore high-wristed black leather skirt, with combat boot and Kylie wore a off white ruffle dress. Each one looked wonderful, Lamar fit right in with everyone. A Family that works together, reaps together.

Now Kendell and Kylie have started their careers at a young age. They both a modeling careers but going in different directions. Kendell is focusing more on shooting for clothing lines and fashion spreads, while Kylie is taking commercials by storm. The future looks bright for both sisters and I wish them nothing but the best. I look forward to watching them takeover the industry, as their sisters have.

Give a Dog a Bone.

So, this has to be hands down why I love Washington, D.C. Eastern Market is definitely the spot if you are trying to ball on a budget. Pick up little nick knacks that will have your friends asking, 'Hey where did you get that? It's cute.' Eastern Market's flea market is filled with little stands of jewelry, furniture, fresh fruit and produce, and art. It was an amazing day.

Of course, I can't forget the fine dining that was had at Ted's Bulletin. That french toast was to D.I.E. for. For all the people in the area, Ted's Bulletin is an amazing brunch place.

So while out, I was introduced to this fantastic girl. Her name is Jessica and she is fresh from Macon, GA. She is here as a school teaching the 8th grade. She has her degree from NorthWestern and her degree in Art History. She is such an awesome spirited young woman!

Back in the Saddle.

Just the thought of an oversized scarf makes me immediately ready for the winter. Are you ready for LAYERS? Ferragamo's men's collection puts a modern hook on 18th century upper crust styles. I could not help but notice the warm colored riding boots that Salvatore brilliantly pieced with several looks. Bundle up, it's about to be a chilly winter. BRRR!

Fast Lane.

As I was leaving New York and heading back to Atlanta, I couldn't help but think that, this is the Life. Riding in the cab to the airport, made me think about the future and what i really want to do.

I really couldn't believe that i had finally made to my lovie, New York. I loved how the city was disrespectful, dirty, crowded and confusing; yet on the other hand, inspiring, loving, hopefully and nurturing. I really, deep down in my heart, feel like I have to make it back there soon. My many focus is to get back to where my heart is.

So now my YOUNG MOGUL MOVEMENT has started and gotten stronger. Get ready for the future, cause its getting much brighter.

Top Shelf.

So these Kardashian sisters have added yet another level to the brand, books. I love these sisters for their personalities, fashion and how they have become a house-hold name in a short period of time. The book will hit shelves on November 23rd. Be on the look out cause I definitely will.

At Last.

Well hello Dereon.  Beyonce has created the fall promo campaign, which look amazing. She has really stepped up her visual game for the fall. The clothing is dark, with new cuts and dramatic influence. I see that she kinda channeled Etta James, from Cadillac Records. I love it and I hope the restof the collection follows suit. Below are two videos, Dereon and House of Dereon. Dope work from the Queen on the Charts.

Crowned.

Royalty. Greatness. Value. The sight of a crown evokes this feeling in most of us. We shouldn’t be surprised that is does either. According to Webster, a crown is a reward of victory or mark of honor.  From the time we can push a button on our first TV set this is validated by the crowns worn by the “special people” in fairy tales, on important people in religion and government and most notably for me as a young girl, on the beautiful women wearing them perfectly placed on their immaculate hairstyles.
I went in search of that crown this past year.  Though I did not attain it, I learned valuable lessons that no amount of rhinestones could ever reach the value of. I represented Liberia in the Miss Africa USA 2010 pageant in July. It was one of the best experiences of my life, certainly not because of the largely disorganized and disappointingly unscrupulous pageant system, but because I met some incredible people and learned so many things about myself in the year of auditioning & preparation for it.
The two most important of the lessons was that every decision we make in life is an investment and that we have the power to crown on ourselves with every one of those investments. What is even better is that only we have the authority to allow anyone to ever to take the crown off of our heads.
Return on investment. When is the last time you thought about your ROI’s across the board? The organizations that you dedicate your time to, the people you spend your time with and the things that you spend your money on. Are you really getting back what you put in? Are you even getting half of your investment? This pageant really made me examine what was worth my investments; those investments being my time, energy, concern and definitely my hard earned money.
It made me realize that if we really looked at our life decisions as a whole (not just our business decisions) logically and investigated the risks and benefits of our decisions before we made them, we could truly save ourselves not just money, but heart break and probably the most important resource in life that can never be replenished, time.
The crown that sits on my head comes from 23 years of victory, tears, disappointment and lessons that have taught me who I am. I refuse to ever doubt it and I discourage you to do devalue yours either. So many situations in life attempt to shake our core of knowing who we are and what we know. You worked for that crown, you better wear it.
So that’s all folks as I pack away my sashes I take with me the fabulous pieces of art created in my homeland for the pageant, life lessons and more ammunition to kill this here life…with my crown on.

Meet Michael Oloyede.

Please welcome Michael Oloyede to the staff over here at Heybandgeeks. I met him when he auditioned  for Clark Atlanta's Homecoming fashion show, last year. He attends Georgia State, where he is president of Infinite Appeal. Infinite Appeal is a fashion troop  on GSU campus. Michael is studying finance, which I kinda don't see. However, fashion seems to have grabbed his life. He has modeled for IFG, Art Nouveau and other major players in fashion, here in Atlanta.

I am truly excited that he has decided to join the staff. His eye and view on fashion is worldly, him being from Nigerian heritage. I believe he will tie in his heritage to the rest of the world manufactured view of fashion, and bring something uniquely different. He is also a little socialite here in the Atlanta scene, so expect to get an inside view of his lifestyle.

I expect and look forward to seeing great things come from this young man in the future.
